Certified by the 2020 Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization Recognition Program
-As a comfortable workplace where employees can work with peace of mind-
As a company whose management considers the health of its employees, Works Applications Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director, Chief Executive Officer: Naoki Inoue; hereinafter “WAP”) is certified as the 2020 Certified Health & Productivity Management Outstanding Organization Recognition Program implemented by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and the Nippon Kenko Kaigi on March 2.
Our company’s guidelines are based on the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s “Guidelines for maintaining and improving the mental and physical health of workers”.We support our employees in achieving a happy family life and creating a comfortable work environment for all employees regardless of their mental health condition, so that employees can work with peace of mind. In other words, we are proactively working on “the management of our employees’ mental and physical health.”
WAP Main Initiatives (1-7)
1) Encouragement of work-life balance
For example, our company implemented a “flexible holiday system” in which employees can work on a holiday and take a different day off. Since our goal is to enhance the work-life balance, our paid leave acquisition rate is significantly higher than the IT industry value of 55%*.
In addition, we implemented the following initiatives.
・Introduction of flextime and no core time
・Encourage employees to take paid leaves on certain days
・Introduction of childbirth/child care support system
・Encourage male employees to take paternity leave
2) Revitalization of the workplace by encouraging communication
All employees, including our directors, use the internal company SNS as a place of communication to share their comments without being held back by their rank and department. It is used not only for business contents but also as a platform to share their private opinions and exchange information.
In addition to holding internal events to promote interaction among employees, employees can use the point system to redeem trips prepared by the health insurance society to refresh themselves physically and mentally.
3) Measures implemented to prevent employees’ productivity from declining
We have break and massage rooms that employees can freely use at any time. We also placed hand sanitizers in every meeting room and provided a work environment where employees have the flexibility to choose when to take their breaks.
4) Infection control measures
Our business continuity plan enables us to take a flexible approach with the coronavirus. For example, we have precautionary measures in place, such as vaccinations for infectious diseases (we provide subsidies and have a system in place for medical examinations) and training sessions for employees travelling overseas. Based on the situation in and outside of Japan, we will restrict travel accordingly and ask our employees to work remotely instead of coming to office.
5) Efforts to prevent mental health problems
We are working to design and disseminate our support system such that it protects the privacy of our employees in order to make it easier for them to use our various consultation services. From the implementation of stress checks to mindfulness tests, etc., we do not simply wait for employees to contact us, but proactively introduce measures so as not to miss out on symptoms of mental problems.
6) Returning to work: Supporting both employment and treatment
In the unfortunate event that employees suffer from mental or physical problems, our company has a system in place where we work together with occupational physicians to assist them from their leave period to after they return to work. We adjust their working hours and job scope according to their returning to work (Rework) program and are fully equipped with a vacation and work system that takes their treatment into consideration.
7) Promotion of health management: Involvement of occupational physicians
We coordinate with occupational physicians to formulate mid to long-term plans to tackle the health issues of our employees. Additionally, occupational physicians can collect information from employees, such as health committee members, and request the necessary investigation and actions needed from the viewpoint of health management.
